This policy covers the information we collect directly (business registration, account, and billing information) as the data controller. Where a business inputs its own customers', vendors', or staff's personal information into the Service (for example, a customer's name and phone number attached to a sale), that business acts as the data controller for that information, and we act as a data processor on the business's behalf. Businesses are responsible for ensuring they have a lawful basis to collect and store such information about their own customers and staff.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Business account information | Business name, business code, store name(s), address, phone number, business email. |
| Admin & staff account information | Name, username, email, hashed password, role/permissions, login activity. |
| Business Data you enter | Products, prices, stock levels, sales and purchase records, customer and vendor records, credit sale balances, reports generated from this data. |
| Billing information | Subscription plan, billing cycle, payment status and history (card/bank details are handled directly by Paystack — see Payment Information). |
| Technical & usage data | IP address, browser/device type, session cookies, pages visited, timestamps of actions, error logs. |
| Agent program data (if applicable) | Agent name, email, phone, referral code, bank/payout details, referral and commission history. |
We use the information described above to:
We do not sell your personal information or your Business Data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Subscription payments are processed by Paystack, a third-party payment processor. When you make a payment, your card or bank details are entered directly into Paystack's secure payment page and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. We receive confirmation of successful payments (amount, reference, and plan) from Paystack, which we use to activate or renew your subscription. Paystack's own privacy policy governs how it handles your payment details.
The Service allows a business's staff to optionally share a sales receipt with a customer via WhatsApp. This is initiated manually by your staff and sent using the device's own WhatsApp session — receipts are not sent by us automatically or in bulk, and we do not have access to your customers' WhatsApp accounts.
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the Service, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and role-based access controls that restrict staff accounts to the permissions granted by their business administrator. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any suspected incident.
We retain your business account and Business Data for as long as your account remains active. If your subscription lapses or your account is cancelled, we retain your data for a reasonable period afterward in case you wish to reactivate, and to meet backup, legal, and accounting obligations, after which it may be permanently deleted. You may request earlier deletion of your account and data by contacting support@sellsadvantage.com, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or request deletion of your personal information. Business administrators can access and correct most of their own account and Business Data directly within the Service. For anything else, or to exercise these rights, contact us at support@sellsadvantage.com.
If you are a customer or employee of a business that uses SellsAdvantage and you have a question about your personal data held within that business's account, please contact that business directly, as they control what information is recorded and how it is used.
The Service is intended for business use by adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your information may be stored and processed on servers located in a different country from where you or your business operate, including where our hosting or service providers are located. Where this occurs, we take steps to ensure the recipient provides an adequate level of protection for your information, consistent with this Privacy Policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and where changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered business administrators. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please contact us at support@sellsadvantage.com or via our contact page.
